Live Floor™, Walking Floor™, Cargo Floor™, Shuffle Floor, Live Bottom, Moving Floor – these words are all synonymous with one another, give or take brand names. However, they all work on the same principle: the floor is moved hydraulically in order to transport the contents to the front of the trailer or back and out of a trailer or stationary platform. The floor is made up of individual slats. These slats will either all move in unison, or in three separate groups. When all of the slats move in unison, the entire load is shifted in that direction. The slats will then need to be reset to the original position without moving the load. In order to accomplish this, every third one moves together horizontally as the other two sets remain stationary, then the second set moves back, and then the third and final set. Once all of the slats are reset to the original position, they can once again move in unison, shifting the load and restarting the cycle. The purpose of this type of unloading system is to safely and efficiently empty contents of the trailer out without the use of an additional piece of equipment entering the trailer and double handling the product. This system also allows the entire volume of a van trailer to be used to transport, load, and unload bulk products.
